The School of the Physical Sciences is pleased to support postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in developing a range of skills during their time here at Cambridge.
Postgraduates are expected to spend around 10 days per year developing their transferable skills. This does not have to be solely through courses although your department may have specific requirements. You are expected to keep a log (provided by your department) of anything you want to count towards the 10 days. Each activity or course must be signed off by the appropriate person – the course leader, your supervisor or the departmental coordinator.
Postdocs are encouraged to dedicate about 10 days per year to developing their transferable skills. It can be useful to keep a log of training courses you attend to support you in your personal development planning, and many departments can provide you with an appropriate log book.
